In the intricate web of PDC tournaments, PDC Pro Tour events are the entry level and the most demanding. Young players look up to playing in the Players Championship events and European Tour events, the two major tournaments. Spectators are allowed in the European Tour events and not in the other.
A Pro-Tour card is mandatory for playing in the Players Championship Events. A whopping 128 players participate in this event. In case of cancellation from the players, Challenge Tour Order of Merit will be used to fill in the spots.
These events are conducted all over Europe and overseen by PDC Europe. The countries are Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium, Czech Republic, Hungary and Gilbratar. Forty-eight participants contest in each tour. First sixteen spots are awarded based on the order of merit. The remaining 32 play the qualifier tournaments.
A feeder tournament for the other tours, Development Tour is a fantastic opportunity for blooming talents. The age restriction is 16 to 24. Each season consists of 20 tournaments conducted of five weekends. The final round of events will feature 96 best players. Of them, 72 qualify via Developmental Tour Order of Merit and the remaining 24 enter through qualifiers.
A chain of 20 tournaments conducted of five weekends, Challenge Tour are a good way for the once top players and young talents to prove themselves. The Challenger Tour participants should be alumni of Q-school and must not hold tour cards.
